A look of tranquility with a less hurried pace. Although we are past peak color, there is still plenty of color, smells, and textures of the season to enjoy with its special character and beauty.
Apple Tree Lane B&B 125 year old Wolf River Apple Tree
After a brisk walk through some beautiful scenery at Hartman Creek State Park, off Hwy 54 just west of Waupaca, where your senses will be invigorated and your mood elevated, we recommend a trip just around the corner to Turners Fresh Market on Hwy 54 in Waupaca www.turnersfreshmarket.com, Nothing celebrates fall like a trip to a apple orchard and farm market! Here you can enjoy a huge corn maze, hayrides, caramel apple and cider. It was a great pumpkin harvest, so pick up some peanut pumpkins, knucklehead pumpkins or jahrdale squash. Wonderful preserves and goodies can be brought home to enjoy this winter or serve as gifts.
And the apples...! Here you will find the Macs, Gaylas and Corts, some of our favorites of American's #1 fruit! According to the U.S. Apple Association the top 5 apples are Red Delicious, Gala, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith and Fugi. If you are looking to do a little bit of munching and a little bit of baking, the Paula Red, Cortland, Golden Delicious and Jonagold top the list of the best "All Purpose Apples".
