The Garden At The Apple Tree Lane Bed & Breakfast

I was once told that there is no such thing as mistakes when gardening, only experiments.
Thank goodness, as I have a lot of experiments!

Off our quaint covered porch is a white picked fenced garden. It is a work-in process and a labor of love. They say that one who plants a garden, plants happiness. I have a lot of happiness happening!

It is all about trial & error. I quickly learned that you cannot plant certain plants in the path of black walnut trees, mint will spread beyond belief if planted where it is not contained, preparing the soil does matter, sharing cuttings with friends helps on the budget (thanks Dawn, Nancy, Sandi, Lynne, Monica, Debbie...) and that a good garden may have some weeds. After all, a weed is a plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered, according to Emerson!

Last year I planted the Bleeding Heart, Siberian Iris, Lambs Ear and several varieties of lilies, and it has been fun watching everything returning this spring. Check, one successful experiment!?

"Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace". ~ May Sarton

Come and enjoy spring, the garden and river at the Apple Tree Lane Bed & Breakfast, in Waupaca, Wisconsin soon!

Wildlife Springing into Action at the Apple Tree Lane Bed & Breakfast

Spring...the grass turning green, the buds bursting on the trees, and our animal friends at the B&B posing (?) for pictures! Seeing all of them always brings a smile to our faces.
